Patna: Governor Syed Ata Hasnain on Saturday called upon the youths to develop transformational leadership instead of transactional leadership and act as agents of social change for ensuring all-round development of the country.
Delivering the convocation address at Development Management Institute (DMI) here, the governor pointed out that by following the rules and regulations a person can become a transactional leader, but the state needs transformational leaders who can ensure real development of the society by going into the roots of the problems.
Congratulating the degree recipients, Hasnain said the real journey of life begins after convocation when classroom knowledge and experience pave new paths of development. “To be successful in life, you must enhance your listening skill, develop the habit of accepting challenges and responsibilities and maintain patience even in difficult times. Then only, you would be able to easily navigate the ‘gray zone’ of modern global society,” he said.
As many as 50 boys and girls who had passed the last examination, conducted by the institute, were awarded degrees at the convocation.
DMI’s director Debiprasad Mishra, in his annual report, said that the institute is continuously improving in the areas of academics, training, innovation, and digitalisation. Last year, students stayed for extended periods in villages of Gujarat to understand the nuances of cooperatives. The institute’s centres of excellence are performing well in areas like disaster management, sanitation, and entrepreneurship, he said.
Addressing the degree recipients, state rural development department’s principal secretary Himanshu Sharma said DMI passouts have to play an important role in ensuring rural development of the state and the country. When they bring classroom knowledge to the ground, they would contribute significantly to the development of the lives of millions of people, he said.
The chairman of DMI’s board of governors, Bhanu Pratap Sharma chaired the ceremony.
