PATNA: Governor Satya Pal Malik said on Monday he would write a letter to chief minister Nitish Kumar to consider the demand for appointment of
The governor made this announcement at a felicitation function organized by ‘Pahal’ for Shreyasi, who won gold medal in shooting at Commonwealth Games 2018. “We will try to encourage students of Bihar to actively participate in sports, as there are huge opportunities in this field these days,” he said and added, “Sports and academics are important for the overall development of students at school level. Moreover, sports these days offer equally high job opportunities.”
Shreyasi said people in the state were least aware about the importance of sports. “In Bihar, parents do not encourage their children to participate in sports as they give topmost importance to studies. This mindset needs to be changed,” she said.
Speaking about her future plans, Shreyasi said she was preparing for the Asian Games this year. “Further, I am looking forward to Tokyo Olympics in 2020. I don’t have any plans to join politics,” said Shreyasi, the daughter of former Banka MP Putul Kumari and former Union minister late Digvijay Singh. “I always told my daughter to play fair and smart and never give up. She has made all of us proud by her achievements,” said Putul.
Acharya Sudarshan and Super 30 founder Anand Kumar also congratulated Shreyasi for making the nation proud. They wished her luck for the 2020 Olympics.
