PATNA: Girls of Patliputra University (PPU) have outsmarted boys by securing top positions in most of the subjects in the post-graduate examinations of last two batches (2018-20 and 2019-21 sessions). All the 42 toppers, including 25 girls, will be awarded gold medals at the university’s first-ever convocation scheduled to be held at S K Memorial Hall here on December 15.

PPU’s students’ welfare dean A K Nag said that governor-cum-chancellor Phagu Chauhan will preside over the function. The chairman of National Board of Accreditation (NBA), K K Agrawal, will deliver the convocation address. PPU vice-chancellor will award degrees to the scholars. Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and education minister Chandrashekhar will also grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Nag said that only 15 top students from each batch would be awarded degrees from the dais at the convocation. The recipients have been asked to collect their convocation dress from the venue on December 14.

The toppers of different subjects who are to be awarded gold medals at the convocation include:

2018-20 session: Swati Priya (botany), Rehansh Ranjan (chemistry), Rohan Kumar (physics), Kundan Kumar (mathematics), Kriti Kumari (zoology), Tanuja Jha (environmental science), Rashmi Kumari (economics), Vidisha Kaushik (English), Sanjeev Kumar Reddy (geography), Bharti Kumari (Hindi), Ajay Kumar (history), Saraswati Kumari (home science), Juhi Agrawal (labour and social welfare), Rashmi Kumari (sociology), Rukhsar Afreen (Urdu), Arun Kumar Shah (political science), Riya Chaudhary (commerce), Atul Kumar Dwivedi (psychology) and Monika Kumari (philosophy).
