Gardanibagh identified as alternate dharna site

PATNA: A day after the Patna high court directed the state government to shift the dharna site from R-Block area, the district administration on Tuesday identified an alternate site in Gardanibagh. The urban development and housing department has to approve the proposal.
A team comprising Patna DM Abhay Kumar Singh and Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav inspected the Gardanibagh area.As per the new proposal, the protesters and demonstrators will assemble at the GAIT Public Library grounds in Gardanibagh. This place will be treated as assembly point. From there, they would be allowed to take out a rally up to the nearby Sanjay Gandhi Stadium. The team suggested two iron gates in front of the Gardanibagh police station to regulate the assembled crowd.
“Our suggestion is that a delegation of the protesters should be allowed to meet the ministers and officials concerned to express their grievances. The proposal has been sent to urban development and housing department principal secretary for approval,” Patna DM said.
In his PIL, one Shambhu Sharan Singh had alleged that due to R-Block roundabout being a site to stage dharna or demonstration, major parts of the city suffer from traffic snarls. The petitioner said it is impossible to even walk when the gates at the R-Block are closed by the administration due to dharna.
