Gangster gets death sentence

samastipur: in a landmark judgment, first additional district and sessions judge ramanarain singh awarded capital punishment to a notorious gangster ramprit rai and life imprisonment to 12 other accused in a sensational case of carnage at the beri-barat village under the shahpur patori police station of the district in november 1994. two other accused persons were acquitted for lack of evidence against them.rai, who was operating a criminal gang in the diara area of the patori sub-division, killed vakil rai, mukesh rai, dorik rai, savita devi, indu devi and nirmala devi, suspecting the first three to be police informers.
