When contacted, MU public relations officer Shamsul Islam said that the syndicate meeting has been deferred in view of the changed situation. The meeting, according to Islam, was convened to find ways and means to bridge the Rs 4 crore a month gap between the salary grant made by the government and the actual requirements of the university.
The university officials have now got governmental assurance that more money would be released to ease the pressure on the university and as such the Saturday syndicate meet has been postponed.
Meanwhile, Arvind Singh, the government nominee in the MU syndicate has demanded the rescheduling of the meet now slated for October 15.
