Full salary up to age of retirement to slain cop’s widow
PATNA: The state government has decided to pay full salary slain constable Mukesh Singh would have got till his retirement to his widow.
Mukesh was shot dead by criminals during a raid at Ram Krishna Nagar on December 3. He was a part of the raiding team to nab notorious criminal Ujjwal Kumar of Janipur, who is accused of killing a police informer in September this year.
Ujjwal and his associate Raj Kamal were nabbed by Mukesh and his colleague Mahashakti Singh when other criminals fired and killed Mukesh. Ujjwal managed to flee but Raj was arrested.
Patna zonal IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan said not only the government approved the proposal for full salary payment, but also agreed to bear the education expenses of Mukesh’s children. “The proposal was sent to the government for paying full salary and bearing educational expenses of the slain constable’s children,” he said.
Mukesh has a girl and a boy below 10 years. Khan said Mukesh’s widow would also get Rs15 lakh as ex gratia payment and a government job for which paper works were on.
“Apart from the government’s financial assistance, Patna and other district police are contributing for the constable’s family. Hopefully, about Rs50 lakh will be collected,” he said.
When asked, the IG said that apart from Raj, two more associates of Ujjwal are been nabbed by police till now after the killing.
Khan said that the criminals who were at the spot and had opened fire on the constable to help Ujjwal free were yet not identified by police and raids were on at several districts in Bihar to nab all those criminals including who were present at the spot during the raid.
