PATNA: Youths in the city are ready to celebrate

Friendship Day

with gusto on Sunday. City hotspots like malls, movie theatres, parks and cafés are likely to witness a huge rush of visitors.

A number of coffee shops and restaurants will offer discounts to attract customers. Govind Kumar, the manager of a café on Ashiana Road, told this newspaper, “We will host a special party and give exciting offers on Friendship Day.”

Yasheen, the owner of a coffee shop on Boring Road, said, “We will put up lots of balloons and have a live music session.”

Patnaites have made different plans to reunite with friends and have fun on Sunday. “I will catch up with my old friends. While growing up, we have numerous responsibilities and we do not get time to meet them,” said Nala Road resident Deepashree Biswas.

Like always, businessman Uma Shankar Prasad and his pals will drink coffee together. “We are going to a coffee shop near Gandhi Maidan this time,” he said.

There are some, who will celebrate Friendship Day with their pets. Mandiri resident Shristy said, “My dog is my best friend. I will go on a walk with him and pamper him.”

Few students of St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology and J D Women’s College are planning to celebrate Friendship Day on Monday.

“Since all my friends cannot meet me on Sunday, we will cut a cake and tie friendship bands on each other’s wrists a day later. We will also watch a movie,” said Bailey Road resident Aryan Raj.

Although a lot of people are excited, there are some, who feel that Friendship Day has lost its charm. “When I was a kid, I would do everything possible to make my friends feel special. Now, people just visit restaurants or go out for a movie on Friendship Day,” said 35-year-old Neeraj Sharma, who lives in Kadamkuan.
