PATNA: Four Yuva Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders and their young supporters joined the BJP in the presence of party's state chief C P Thakur at the party's state headquarters here on Friday. All of them took a pledge to strengthen the party.
The Yuva leaders, who switched loyalty to the BJP, include NCP's state vice-presidents Yogendra Tiwary and Sanjay Kumar Kesri, general secretary Ram Babu Prasad and state executive member Lalit Sao.
Introducing the new entrants, state BJP vice-president and spokesman Sanjay Mayukh said they took the decision to join the BJP under the influence of state BJP secretary Mithilesh Tiwary. Qualifying the stakes of the new entrants in the state BJP, Thakur said, "They have demanded nothing. They have not come here to demand anything. Instead, they would sincerely work to strengthen the party in the state."
When pointed out that no major leader had joined the BJP in the last few months even as several heavyweights had joined its ruling partner JD(U) during the same period, Thakur said, "People join BJP not for immediate gains but to work for the party."
