Four members of chain snatchers’ gang held
Patna: Patna Police on Friday arrested four members of a chain snatchers' gang who were involved in 27 loot incidents in the city since November 2024. The police recovered three motorcycles, an equal number of stolen gold chains and Rs 2.28 lakh cash from the accused.The arrested members were identified as Sujit Kumar Paswan, Anand Kumar, Kundan Kumar and Amit Kumar. According to the police, the gang was involved in at least 27 chain-snatching incidents across six police stations in the city since November 2024. The police had been tracking the activities of the gang members for weeks and finally they landed in the police's net.Among the arrested criminals, Sujit was apprehended from Boring Road while he was trying to commit another incident of chain snatching. However, his accomplice, Anand, managed to escape.City SP, Central, Sweety Sahrawat, said: "The SK Puri police chased Anand and caught him on J P Ganga Path. During interrogation, the arrested criminals revealed that they are residents of Nayagaon, Vaishali district. Based on their information, Patna police conducted raids in Hajipur and arrested two more criminals, Kundan and a jewellery shop owner, Amit."Sahrawat said another criminal involved in the case is still on the run, and efforts are underway to arrest him. "The criminals confessed to committing 27 incidents across half a dozen police station areas since November 2024. It was also found that Sujit, one of the arrested criminals, is constructing a house in Hajipur, which will be investigated further," the City SP said.
