Patna: A local court on Thursday awarded rigorous life imprisonment to four persons after they were found guilty of kidnapping and subsequently killing 15-year-old Patna boy Aditya Kumar in August 2011. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the quartet – Sintu Kumar (28), Sanoj Kumar (29), Ravi Kumar (24) and Lallan Singh (27) – failing which they will have to serve additional three months in jail.

While pronouncing its verdict, the court of additional district and sessions judge Krishna Pratap Singh termed Aditya’s murder as “rarest of rare”.
Aditya, a Class X student of Gyan Niketan and son of agriculture officer Shailesh Kumar, was kidnapped for ransom of Rs 75 lakh on August 24, 2011. His body was recovered from a well at Devkul village under Punpun police station in the district two days later. Aditya was kidnapped while he was on way to a coaching institute from his Rukanpura house.
