Former mukhiya’s brother shot dead, another injured in Gopalganj
Patna: Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead the brother of a former mukhiya of Vrindavan panchayat, while another person received gunshot injuries while they were sitting outside a shop in Gopalganj district on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Satyendra Singh (50), son of Baban Singh, a native of Vrindavan village in the Uchkagaon police station area of Gopalganj. He used to live in a separate house in the Nirala Nagar locality under Mirganj sub-division. The injured Nayan Prasad (65), a resident of Mirganj, has been admitted to a hospital.Anand Mohan Gupta, SDPO, Hathua, said: "Satyendra went to the tiles and marble shop owned by one Nayan near Mirganj Power House. Suddenly, four armed motorcycle-borne miscreants arrived there and started firing indiscriminately, injuring the two. Local people immediately took both to Hathua Subdivision Hospital, where Satyendra died during treatment. Meanwhile, Nayan is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is stable."The police are also finding out whether personal enmity was the reason behind the attack. "We are looking into all possible angles, including a personal rivalry. We are investigating the matter and will arrest the culprits soon," said Gupta.Mirganj SHO, Kishori Choudhary, said that Satyendra was the brother of D K Singh, former mukhiya of Vrindavan panchayat. The forensic team and the dog squad visited the scene and collected samples from there. The autopsy was conducted at the Mirganj sub-divisional hospital."CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the area have been scanned to identify the assailants and the route they took to escape from the spot. Some clues have been found in the matter. The case will be solved soon," added the SHO.
