PATNA: Low-cost FlyBig airline on Thursday announced a new flight on Patna-Kolkata route from June 8. It will be its second flight from Patna after the one on Patna-Guwahati route.
Patna airport sources said the new Patna-Kolkata flight is expected to bring some respite to flyers as the cash-strapped GoFirst announced earlier this week that its flights will remain suspended till June 4.
The new flight announcement has been welcomed by local people. "I'm glad the aviation sector recognized the need for more flights between Patna and Kolkata. It not only improves accessibility but can also potentially lead to more competitive airfare. It's a win-win situation for travellers," said Ruhi Khan, a native of Sitamarhi district, who resides in Kolkata.
Similar views were expressed by Shivam Singh, who is a frequent flier on the Patna-Kolkata route. "Having an extra flight option is a great relief for frequent travellers like me. It reduces the chances of flights being fully booked and provides more availability during peak travel season," said Singh, a native of Patna who studies in Kolkata.
