Five killed in separate Rohtas accidents
Sasaram: At least five people, including a woman, were killed and several others injured in three separate road accidents reported from different parts of Rohtas district on Friday, police officials said.
In the first incident, two persons lost their lives when an autorickshaw rammed into a road divider near Jamuhar village under Dehri Mufassil police station area. The deceased were identified as Yogendra Prasad, a resident of Mangra village in Gaya district, and Lalbabu Paswan of Madaini locality in Sasaram. The auto was travelling from Dehri towards Sasaram when the driver lost control. Three other passengers were seriously injured and admitted to Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Jamuhar. The bodies were sent to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for the postmortem.
In another accident under Karghar police station area, a speeding truck collided with an autorickshaw near Kharari village, killing two passengers and injuring six others, including three women. The deceased were identified as Saroj Baitha and Mahendra Paswan, residents of Bhagwaliya village. The injured were taken to the Trauma Centre in Sasaram and later referred to Varanasi for advanced treatment. Police said the victims were returning after cooking food at a wedding ceremony. The truck involved was seized by the police.
The third incident occurred on the busy Dehri-Banjari road near Tar Bangla Chowk, where a sand-laden truck hit a motorcycle, killing a woman. The deceased, Ranjoo Devi of Amra village under Tilouthu block, was travelling with her son and daughter to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Akorhigola. She died on the spot, while her children narrowly escaped. Police sent the body to a govt hospital for the postmortem.
Police have registered cases in all three incidents and are investigating the causes of the accidents.
