FIR lodged against ex-principal
BHAGALPUR: The Bhagalpur police have registered a case against the ex-principal of Bhagalpur College of Engineering (BCE), Prof Nirmal Kumar, and a
Industrial area police station SHO Ranjan Kumar said, “A case has been registered on Thursday on the basis of a complaint lodged by Kshitij’s father with the Shastri Nagar police station in Patna. We will cross-examine the ex-principal Nirmal Kumar and the BCE student Sintu Kumar in the backdrop of charges levelled against them. Kshitij is recovering and we will soon record his statement also.”
According to police sources, the case has been registered under sections 306, 511 and 34 of IPC.
Ex-principal Nirmal Kumar on the other hand said he is shattered by the turn of events. “I had only tried to bring academic reforms in the BCE besides enforcing strict discipline on the campus. I only intended to make the students excellent engineer and a better person,” said Kumar.
It may be recalled that hundreds of students had attacked the principal’s residence and damaged the properties after the BCE principal had ordered final year student Ramesh Kumar to vacate the hostel room on disciplinary grounds on August 23. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged by the BCE authorities in which 11 students were named and several unnamed were made accused. The rampaging students were also asked to vacate the hostels immediately.
Following the simmering discontent among the students on the issue of lodging FIR against students, a group of students further vandalized the college campus where as a final year students Kshitij Kumar Shukla allegedly attempted suicide in his hostel room after the police forces reached the college premises on the complaint of BCE authorities to get the hostels vacated till September 14 in the afternoon. Kshitij is stated to be one among the 11 students who were named in the FIR.
