Aurangabad: An FIR was lodged with the Barun police against one Sunil Kumar Singh, elder brother of Aurangabad BJP MP Sushil Kumar Singh, for his alleged involvement in misuse of subsidized coal. Besides Sunil, one truck driver and co-driver have also been booked in this connection.
According to sources, a team led by SDM (Sadar) Surendra Prasad carried out raids at Pushpanjali Coal Industry under Barun police station on Sunday evening.
"The raid was conducted on the directive of DM Kawal Tanuj," said the SDM.
Sources said that Pushpanjali Coal Industry is being managed by the elder brother of MP, where illegal works are going on. When the team reached the industry premises , it was found that the factory is running on paper only. ner of the factory is allegedly availing coal on subsidized rates meant for making (coal-tar) which is being used for construction of roads. This subsidized coal is then being sold on much higher price," said a source adding that 19 tonnes of coal and truck have been seized.
Police sources said Sunil Singh and four others have been booked in the case. "The team is conducting raids at many coal factories of the district. Pushpanjali Coal has been questioned earlier for misuse of subsidized coal," said a source adding an FIR has been lodged against the elder brother of the MP and others based on the statement of Barun circle officer.
It may be mentioned here that the Dhanbad-Varanasi route (NH-2) is infamous for illegal transportation of coal and the government is suffering huge revenue losses due to black marketing of subsidized coal. Though efforts were made by the administration to check it, black marketing could not be stopped.
Incidentally, the Aurangabad MP has been a member of the coal committee in Parliament.
