A quack allegedly killed a 15-year-old boy by performing a botched gall bladder stone surgery, following instructions from a YouTube video on his cellphone, in Bihar's Saran district on Saturday. Krishna Kumar, alias Golu, from Bhuwalpur village under Madhaura police station, was taken to Ajit Kumar Puri's private clinic on Friday with complaints of stomachache and vomiting, Golu's family said.

Although he initially felt better after receiving medication, Puri advised urgent surgery. "Puri sent Golu's father to a local fuel station to fetch diesel. Meanwhile, he began the surgery without our consent while watching a video," said Golu's maternal grandfather, Prahlad Prasad Shah.

As Golu's condition worsened, Puri arranged an ambulance to transfer him to a Patna hospital, but by then Golu had died. Puri and other hospital staff then fled. "Golu died because of Puri's botched operation," said the boy's father, Chandan Saha.

DSP Isha Gupta said, "We have launched an investigation into the death and are conducting raids to arrest the quack."

Indian Medical Association has called for stringent action against quacks who damage the reputation of genuine doctors. "This incident is very unfortunate. The health department must take action against such quacks," said IMA state secretary Dr Santosh Kumar Singh, urging statewide measures against quacks.
