BUXAR: Irate residents of Naya Bhojpur in Buxar district on Friday blocked the traffic on NH-84 in the village, demanding arrest of the killers of Naya Bhojpur’s former mukhiya

The 45-year-old village leader was shot dead near the Churamanpur petro outlet on the Buxar- Patna NH-84 on Thursday night. Buxar DSP Arvind Kumar Gupta said the former mukhiya was returning home from Buxar on a mobike with his brother when three criminals chased and intercepted them near the petrol pump and fired at them.
While Khan died on the spot, his injured brother, Anees Khan, was rushed to the Buxar sadar hospital in a critical condition.
Police said he is out of danger now.
On Friday morning, the supporters of former mukhiya placed his body on the road and blocked traffic for hours. They were demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation and adequate security to the bereaved family besides arrest of the killers.
The blockade was lifted only after Buxar DM Ajay Yadav arrived at the spot around 1 pm and assured the agitators that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
