PATNA: The alumni association of Notre Dame Academy (NDA), Patna, one of the city's premier schools, organised its annual alumni meet 2006 at the school auditorium here on Sunday.
The meet brought together NDA alumni from across the country. The meet was also attended by the school teachers besides principal, Sister Jayshree.
"Merry-making and socialising is part of any alumni initiative," says Sumita Singh, president, Notre Dame Alumni Association.

She was, however, quick to point out that value-added education received by students of the school should be returned to society.
Over the last several years, the association has been undertaking some social initiatives also. Alumni members had been helping the Julie School run by the nuns for destitute children on the premises of NDA itself.
The members, who attended Sunday's alumni meet, also decided to purchase a computer for the students of Julie School. It was also decided that those who were adept in computers would impart free training to students.

So what prompted the association to undertake this initiative? "First, of all it is the leadership quality which the school imbibed in us," replied Meera Dutta, a student of the first batch of the academy.
"We have been privileged to get excellent education and good values from the school. So, we owe something to society individually as well as collectively," Dutta rationalises. NDA principal Sr Jayashree, while addressing the alumni, urged them to unite and serve the poor and the needy.
As part of the merry-making the ex-Damiens, apart from organising games, also organised an Ex-Miss NDA contest. While Ragini Singh, now a teacher in the school, was crowned Ex-Miss NDA, Archana Shand and Suman Choubey were crowned first and second runners-up respectively.
The association also elected a new core committee on the occasion in which Sumita Singh and Margaret Martin were elected president and vice-president.
The occasion concluded with a resolve to organise meetings at regular intervals in which participants will come up with concrete plans to organise certain events which, in turn, would generate money. The money generated would be utilised for the benefit of the poor.
