Ensure no child is left out of school, Nalanda DM tells officials
Biharsharif: Nalanda district magistrate (DDM) Kundan Kumar on Monday directed officials to ensure 100% enrolment of children aged six years and above from anganwadi centres into nearby govt primary schools under the School Chalo Abhiyan, stressing that no eligible child should be left out.
Chairing a weekly coordination review meeting of district, subdivision and block-level technical and non-technical officials, the DM instructed the district programme officer (ICDS) and the district education officer to prepare a comprehensive database and mapping of such children to facilitate their enrolment in the nearest government schools.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for Malmas Mela 2026 and the implementation of the Bihar govt’s Seven Resolves–3 programme, with special focus on the seventh resolve, Sabka Samman–Jeevan Aasan (Ease of Living), aimed at reducing difficulties faced by citizens in accessing government services.
The DM directed officials at all levels—from gram panchayat to district offices—to remain available in their offices on two working days every week, Monday and Friday, to hear public grievances. He said that in case an officer is unable to attend for unavoidable reasons, an authorised officer must meet visitors. He also stressed the need to provide basic facilities such as seating arrangements, drinking water and toilets, and to maintain registers for recording complaints and their disposal.
Reviewing the district Janata Darbar, Kumar directed officials to ensure speedy disposal of all complaints received in 2026 and to update action-taken reports on Google Docs. He also asked officials to expedite the settlement of land dispute cases and instructed technical departments to obtain no-objection certificates (NOCs) from landowners before undertaking construction of roads, buildings and bridges.
The executive engineer of the minor irrigation division was directed to remove encroachments from pynes and ahars to ensure unobstructed irrigation to agricultural fields. Officials were also instructed to dispose of pending cases related to social security schemes.
The DM asked the public health engineering department to ensure prompt resolution of tap water complaints during summer through quick response teams equipped with mobile vehicles, spare motors and mechanics. He further directed officials to expedite work related to mutation, ration card applications, flood protection embankments and health services, and asked the agriculture department to assess crop damage caused by fire incidents and ensure compensation.
