Darbhanga police on Sunday attached the property of Karan Jha, a member of Santosh Jha gang, at Bhetua village under Nanpur police station in Sitamarhi district. Karan's name had figured in the murder of two engineers in the district in December last year. Police have seized a truck, utensils, clothes and other household items from the house of the accused.
Darbhanga SSP AK Satyrathi said the police would also attach the property of two other members of Santosh Jha gang - Pintu Jha and Pintu Tiwary - at Piprahi and Sheohar, respectively.
Police said Karan used to keep an eye on the employees of road construction company, including the two slain engineers, and pass on information to Santosh. "Based on the inputs provided by Karan, four shooters of Santosh gang - Mukesh Pathak, Abhishek Jha, Vikas Jha and Nikesh Dubey - gunned down the two engineers, Brajesh Kumar Singh and Mukesh Kumar Singh, at Shivram village under Baheri police station in the district on December 26. All four shooters are still at large," police added.
Meanwhile, police on Sunday detained two friends of Karan - Ujjwal Jha and Mrityunjay Kumar Jha - for interrogation. Satyarthi said raids were on to arrest Karan.
