Elderly man killed over old enmity in Bhojpur
Ara: A 65-year-old man, Shivpujan Rai, was shot dead on Thursday morning in Tikapur village under the Bahoranpur police station area in Bhojpur district. The incident occurred near the village embankment as the victim had stepped out of his house. He sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his neck and died on the spot.Senior police officers, including Jagdishpur SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh and Bahoranpur SHO Sushant Kumar, reached the spot with other personnel to begin the investigation."The FSL team and the district intelligence unit (DIU) teams are collecting samples from the spot. The accused have been identified and they will soon be arrested," said SDPO Singh.SHO Sushant Kumar added, "As per our preliminary investigation, the reason behind the incident is an old enmity between the deceased's family and the family members of a co-villager. The police are conducting raids to nab the accused."Providing further context, the deceased's grandson, Neeraj Thakur, said, "A quarrel had broken out between the deceased's son, Abhishek Rai, and one Prince, the son of co-villager Shri Ram Rai, a few years ago when Prince's bike splashed mud on Abhishek. After this incident, fights had broken out between the two rival families on many occasions. The deceased man was also made a named accused when Shri Ram Rai was shot at in 2020."Two members of Shri Ram Rai's family have been named as accused in the current murder case. Meanwhile, one of the accused, Vishal, has allegedly issued a threat to kill the deceased's son through a video message. However, police have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the video.
