PATNA: Over 25,000 people are expected to offer namaz
at Gandhi Maidan
on the occasion of
Eid-ul-Fitr
this year.
Patna
district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi and SSP Garima Malik inspected the venue on Wednesday.
The DM asked the officials concerned to provide drinking water, medical facilities and security to the Muslim devotees. “The entire area will be cleaned for holding the mass prayer at 8am,” he said.
According to Eidain Committee president Mahmood Alam, the members of the body have held a meeting with the district administration to discuss necessary arrangements to be made for the event.
“Earlier, some people had suggested that the prayer meet could be organized in the early morning hours because of the scorching heat. We have, however, been holding the event at 8am for years,”Alam told TOI.
Besides, at least 2,000 devotees are
likely to offer
the Eid
namaz
at Haj Bhavan at 8am.
“Chief minister Nitish Kumar will also visit
Gandhi Maidan to extend his greetings to the devotees. We will put up a separate tent near the ‘eidgah’ (place where namaz is offered) to welcome him,” Alam said.
