Patna: Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday called for interdepartmental coordination in special drive against gender-based violence in the district.
He said different programmes were being organised by various departments like education, agriculture and health to create awareness among people in this regard.
The drive against gender-based violence started in the district on November 25 and it would continue till December 10.

It would cover issues minor violence at home, rape, forced marriage, dowry, termination from jobs, kidnapping, trafficking and even humiliation and torture at in-law’s house for giving birth to female babies.
He said foeticide, educational deprivation of girls, child marriage, discrimination on personal liberty to go out of home and psychological torture are some of the issues based on which activities are in progress. “Schools are organising contests on painting and slogan writing to inculcate a positive approach in children’s mind towards the issue of gender-based violence,” the DM added.
The DM has asked the district education officer to educate children on “good and bad touch”. The district welfare officer has been asked to organise events based on gender-based violence in dalit localities and special schools.
