District Board member fears threat to life

samastipur: usha devi, a district board member, has given a petition to samastipur dm alleging threat to her life from criminals and demanding security for herself. the copies of her petition have been sent to the darbhanga commissioner and the leader of opposition in the bihar assembly sushil kumar modi also. in her petition, usha devi has stated that the chairman of the district board, sheel kumar rai, asked her to meet him at his residence.when she went to his place on march 4, she found that four persons -- anjani kumar rai, alok rai, shakhar rai and ram naresh rai -- who wanted to take the contract of a project under the sunischit rojgar yojana, were waiting there. the chairman reportedly talked to her about the project and when she told him that no petty contractor was needed for the project, he agreed with her and left.later, the four persons threatened her with dire consequences if she did not allow them to get the contract.
