Disengaged guest teachers in Buxar demand age relaxation for TRE-4
Buxar: A section of guest teachers, disengaged from plus-two schools last year, has demanded age relaxation equivalent to their years of service for eligibility in the upcoming TRE-4 to be conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). They argued that the absence of such relief had prevented many experienced teachers from appearing in TRE-3. They have also sought reinstatement in schools.Brajesh Pandey, president of the Buxar School Guest Teacher Association, said a meeting on the issue was held here on Sunday. “Guest teachers were disengaged with effect from March 31, 2024, without prior notice. Due to the lack of age-relaxation provisions, many were unable to appear in the third phase of TRE-3,” Pandey said.

Manju Kumari, a former English guest teacher from Buxar, said that despite six years of continuous service, she became over-age for recruitment examinations. She added that although service weightage was given, the absence of age relaxation barred experienced teachers from the selection process. The Patna high court, in civil writ case no. 1003 of 2025, set aside the termination of guest teachers, terming it unjustified.
However, the teachers said the state govt has challenged the order in appeal.Members of the association said several vacancies in subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and English remain unfilled even after the declaration of TRE-3 results. They urged the govt to grant age relaxation equal to their length of service and allow their participation in TRE-4 on humanitarian and academic grounds.
