DARBHANGA: Call it sycophancy or political exigency triggered with the announcement of assembly polls, railway minister Lalu Prasad appears to be most venerable personality among the political figures, when it comes to idolising them with religious fervour.
While a group of RJD supporters organised "Lalu Yajna" in Patna recently, a loyalist of RJD supremo hailing from Ara district has come out with an audio cassette, titled "Shri Lalu Aarti".
However, a local RJD leader has gone a step further, apparently for paying obeisance to his political idol with utmost devotion. President of Darbhanga town unit youth RJD Madan Sahni has embarked on "Lalu-Rabri Kaanwar Yatra" to obtain the blessings of Lalu Prasad. Surrounded by his supporters, Sahni started his journey to Patna from Karpoori square at 1 pm here on Tuesday. The RJD leader embarked on his journey barefoot. While the RJD enthusiasts shouted slogans like "Lalu-Rabri zindabad", Sahni placed the lanterns, the election symbolof the RJD, on either end of the Kaanwar.
He told mediapersons that the journey will be completed on January 6 in Patna. He claimed that RJD chief has given him an appointment on January 7 where he would hand over the party election symbol to the latter at the RJD headquarters.
"I will stake claim for the party ticket from Darbhanga Town constituency on the occasion," an ebullient Sahni said. The RJD leader claimed that a batch of 50 people would accompany him during his 140-km journey to the state capital.
