Deo Surya Mahotsav begins today
AURANGABAD: The three-day Deo Surya Mahotsav, a joint venture of state tourism department and Aurangabad district administration, will be inaugurated on Saturday.
A cultural extravaganza is also being organised on the occasion in which artists like Anup Jalota and Sumitra Guha will perform. District information and public relations officer Dharamvir Singh said, “Apart from Jalota, Bhajan singers Sunil Mishra and Alka Mishra, Bhojpuri singer Tanu Priyanka and Kathak dancer Prachi Pallavi Sahu will also perform on the inaugural day on Saturday.”
“Bhojpuri singer Sunil Chhaila Bihari and folk singer Neelu Navgeet among others will perform on the second day. The highlight of the closing ceremony on February 3 will be Bollywood singers Rakesh Raj and Akanksha Sharma. Classical singer Padma Shri Sumitra Guha will also perform on the concluding day,” Singh said.
The main event of Surya Mahotsav will be held at the Mela ground located near Ranipokhar at Deo block headquarters. The inauguration ceremony will be chaired by state mines and geology minister Brajkishore Bind, while tourism minister Krishna Kumar Rishi will be the chief guest of the ceremony.
Other dignitaries to be present on the occasion are Aurangabad MP Sushil Kumar Singh, Karakat MP Mahabali Singh, legislative council members Awadhesh Narayan Singh, Sanjeev Shyam Singh, Rajan Kumar Singh, MLAs Virendra Kumar Singh, Ashok Kumar Singh, Anand Shankar Singh, Virender Kumar Sinha, Manoj Kumar and Rajesh Kumar.
Aurangabad town, also called Suryanagari, has been decorated and a huge pandal has been set up for the three-day event. The main stage has been decorated by artists from other states. A development fair has also been organized in which various departments will showcase their achievements in their stalls. Competitions will be also organized among local children at various level.
