Decks cleared for teachers’ appointment under TRE-4: Minister
In a significant update, Bihar's Education Minister has confirmed that the roster for the TRE-4 teacher recruitment has been finalized, paving the way for the hiring of more than 30,000 educators. The Bihar Public Service Commission is now overseeing the process to bring on board around 40,000 teachers.
Patna: Education minister Sunil Kumar on Friday said the roster has been cleared by the general administration department (GAD) and sent for the recruitment of teachers under TRE-4.“This recruitment will not be less than 30,000 posts. After receiving information from the GAD regarding the number of posts to be filled, the govt will share the exact numbers. It’s not the end as CM Nitish Kumar has promised 1 crore job and employment. We have sent the related draft to the GAD two days ago. We want to fill the vacancies first in the subjects where there is a greater shortage of teachers,” he told reporters outside the assembly building.

After clearance from GAD, the appointment process for approximately 40,000 teachers has been sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).Responding to the threat of massive student protests on Feb 12 since the BPSC calendar for 2026 did not mention TRE-4, the minister said it is not needed as everything will be cleared in two-three days.A large number of teacher candidates are waiting for TRE-4. There have also been demands from the Bihar govt to start the recruitment process in a time-bound manner.
The ruling JD(U) has also announced on X that more than 44,000 teachers would be recruited soon. The Nitish govt is committed to strengthening quality education in Bihar, and in the last two years, more than 227,000 teachers have been appointed in three phases, it states.
