Dalit women gangraped in Jharkhand

HAZARIBAG: In a shocking incident, two Dalit women were gangraped, stripped naked and paraded in the street of a village in extremist-hit Hazaribag district of Jharkhand on Friday, according to a delayed official report here.
Kunti Devi and her daughter-in-law Kamla (names changed) were gangraped by the henchmen of a businessman of Sudan village for their refusal to part with a small plot of land, DSP Hemand Toppo told PTI after an on the spot inquiry at the village.
Toppo said the henchmen of the businessman Rameshwar Modi raped Kunti Devi and Kamla in their home and paraded them naked for several hours in the village after smearing their faces with lime and cowdung.
A team from Barkattha PS visited the village on receipt of information but was chased away by the hoodlums. A much larger police contingent arrived at the village the following day and succeeded in arresting one Bhola Yadav. All other 14 accused are absconding.
