Cybercrime: 10 more arrested in Bihar's Nawada

NAWADA: Three days after the arrest of seven cybercriminals from Makanpur village under Warisaliganj police station, 10 more members of the gang were nabbed on Tuesday. Seven of the 10 arrested criminals are the natives of Masuda village under Makanpur panchayat and three hail from Mosma village, 4km from Warisaliganj police station.

Pakribarawan SDPO Mahesh Kumar Choudhary said those arrested from Masuda village were identified as Dharamveer Kumar, Kundan Kumar, Chhotu Kumar and Rajaram. Mahesh Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Sanjeet Kumar and Dharamveer. Nine cellphones, 45-page customer data and a motorcycle were recovered from the possession of the arrested cybercriminals. Ironically, Navlesh Yadav, the son of the mukhiya of Makanpur panchayat, is also a cybercriminal. He is currently lodged in Nawada jail.

The SDPO said Nawada SP Ambarish Rahul has launched a drive to free the district from cybercriminals. Warisaliganj, of late, is fast becoming another Jamtara, the country-wide haven for cybercriminals.

Earlier, those from forward caste community used to take to cybercrimes. But the lure of quick money has percolated into almost every caste group, including the Musahars, and in every nook and corner of Nawada and adjoining Nalanda district. If a survey is conducted to assess the number of seized cellphones from cyber criminals from these two districts alone, it would surpass the combined number of seized cellphones from the remaining 36 districts of Bihar.
