GAYA: A BA-LLB final year student of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has been offered financial assistance of US$54,000 (around Rs 44.38 lakh) to pursue LLM from Pennsylvania State University located in the United States (US).

The student, Ashish Ranjan, has got the offer after being awarded the ‘Best Law Student’ scholarship in the 8th Padma Bhushan Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Mooting Competition held at Lloyd Law College in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh between February 15-18, 2023.

CUSB public relation officer (PRO) Md. Mudassir Alam said, “A team of three CUSB students, including Ashish Ranjan, Kishan Kumar and Aditi Tomar, participated in the competition.”

Giving details, Neha Shukla, coordinator of CUSB’s Moot Court Society, said,

“The memorial round was organized in January 2023 in which various teams from Association of Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN) countries participated.”

Finally, 50 teams were selected along with Ashish’s team from CUSB for the further rounds. The International Round of SAARC Mooting Competition was organized between February 15-18, 2023, in which Ashish's team made it to the quarter finals.

Ashish was declared winner on the basis of his excellent performance in the final round.

CUSB vice-chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, registrar Col. Rajiv Kumar Singh and the Dean of School of Law and Governance Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava have congratulated Ashish on this achievement.
