CS reviews North Koel, road projects; lauds works of several dists
Patna: Chief secretary (CS) Pratyaya Amrit on Monday reviewed the progress of the ‘Agri Stack’ and Kisan Registry campaign. He assessed the current status of the drive and directed officials to work in mission mode, and instructed that the special campaign for the Kisan Registry will continue until January 21, 2026. The CS told all district magistrates (DMs) that at least 50% of the target must be achieved within the extended period, stressing that both accuracy and speed are crucial for the project’s success.
During the review, he praised the performance of several districts, appreciating the working style of the DMs of Sheohar, Begusarai, Vaishali, Buxar, and Katihar, and urged other districts to take inspiration and improve their output.
Earlier, he conducted a high-level review of three major state projects—the North Koel Reservoir, Mandai Weir, and the Tajpur-Bakhtiyarpur Greenfield Road. He said these were not merely infrastructure works but the lifeline of Bihar’s agriculture and connectivity. The importance of the North Koel Reservoir Project was discussed based on a detailed report from the Gaya DM, who assured significant progress by January 28.
The CS warned of a surprise inspection of the slow-moving Mandai Weir project, while expressing satisfaction with the Tajpur-Bakhtiyarpur Greenfield Road project. The 51.2 km corridor will directly connect Samastipur (Tajpur) with Patna (Bakhtiyarpur), reducing travel time between North and South Bihar by nearly two hours.
He also discussed the possibility of developing industrial clusters along the corridor. The route is expected to ease traffic and speed up the movement of agricultural produce from Vaishali and Samastipur to Patna markets. He further directed the road construction department to ensure intensive tree plantation along the new road.
