Patna: Within 60 hours of the murder at Daldali Road under the Kadam Kuan police station area on Thursday morning, a 37-year old man was shot dead near
Amarnath Temple at Bhootnath Road under Agamkuan police station area on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as
Jitendra Kumar, who hailed from Hilsa, and was working as a technician in the X-ray department of the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
A witness said, “Two bike-borne assailants came close to Jitendra near the Amarnath Temple and opened fire at him, who was on foot. They vanished in seconds.” He was rushed to Nalanda Medical College Hospital by the locals, where he was declared brought dead.
“Prima facie, the incident is a fallout of personal enmity,” said Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav. According to a police source, “Jitendra was allegedly having an illicit relation with a woman, who also accompanied him till the hospital, claiming herself to be his sister. But she left the place as soon as Jitendra’s wife arrived there. We are interrogating his close associates to get the details.”
Meanwhile, Patna Police are yet to arrest the shooters who chased and then pumped bullets at Avinash Kumar, general secretary of the BJP’s Patna Mahanagar unit, at Daldali Road on Thursday.
Sources said the three shooters were located near Patna Junction. With CCTV capturing their movement, different police teams are conducting raids in and around Patna. “Raids are also being conducted in search of the three named accused still at large following the FIR lodged by Avinash’s brother,” said the SSP.
Two other investigation teams are working on technical surveillance and interrogation at the local level. Police sources said all the mobile phones active before and after 6.34am on August 6 in Daldali Road area are being scrutinized. “Avinash’s call details are also being verified to find out the frequent callers and make out the kind of conversation to get some lead about the conspirator,” said a police source.
Gyan Niketan student dies in accident: A student of Class X of Gyan Niketan School died in a road accident on Saturday morning at Transport Nagar under Agamkuan police station area.
The girl was identified as Rajlakshmi, who was on her way to school along with her two friends studying in the same school. Police said two students Rajlakshmi and Monika were hit by a pickup van. Rajlakshmi was declared brought dead by doctors at a nearby hospital while Monika is being treated.
She was staying with her maternal grandparents in Patna while her parents stay at Dehradun. The locals blocked the road demanding the arrest of the pickup van’s driver, who managed to flee from the spot.
Gyan Niketan School authorities declared that the school will remain closed on Monday to condole the student’s death.
