PATNA: Six criminals locked a man in a room in his kin’s house and looted cash, jewellery and other valuable items worth Rs 15 lakh in Gokul Colony near Golki Mor under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station area in Patna in the wee hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred at the house of Vinod Kumar Pankaj, teacher of a primary school in Bakhtiyarpur.
Pankaj and other members of his family had gone to Nalanda to attend a funeral when the incident occurred. The robbers broke the lock of the main gate with the help of a cutter and entered the house between 2.30am and 3am. Pankaj’s brother-in-law
Arun Kumar was at the house and sleeping in a room on the ground floor.
SHO of Ramkrishna Nagar police station Jahangir Alam Khan said the robbers locked the room in which Arun was sleeping from outside and reached the first floor. “The robbers looted Rs 50,000 in cash which was kept in almirahs and all the gold jewellery from three rooms. The police got the information around 4.30am after the locals spotted the main door of the house open. They informed Pankaj immediately. Pankaj, in turn, brought the matter to the notice of the police.
In his complaint, Pankaj said cash and valuables worth Rs 15 lakh was looted from his house. “Pankkaj had gone to Lakhanpur in Nalanda with the family to attend his uncle’s ‘shradh’. His elder brother Omprakash is in the Air Force and he is posted in Punjab. Pankaj’s another brother, a postal department employee, had gone to Nalanda,” the SHO said, adding the police were conducting raids to nab the accused. “The footage of CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas is being scanned,” he added.
