Patna: The court of district and sessions judge, Patna, on Wednesday stayed the execution of the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against RJD MLA from Belaganj Surendra Prasad Yadav. The court has asked for the case diary. Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav said police would provide the case diary to the court soon.
A city court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on Tuesday against Surendra in a case of alleged extortion.
The MLA had applied for anticipatory bail the same day. Surendra is contesting the assembly election from the same constituency. Patna police had found the allegations against him prima facie true.
An FIR was lodged on October 2 with the S K Puri police station against Surendra for allegedly demanding extortion from a contractor Arun Kumar for participating in the bidding for contract in irrigation department, Gaya division.
