PATNA: The statements of the three accused - Ajay Dube, Deepak Abhishek and Umesh Singh - who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the extortion case against former Saran range DIG Alok Kumar, were recoded under Section 164 of the CrPC before a Muzaffarpur court on Saturday.
Tunnaji Pandey, representative of a liquor company, had lodged a written complaint with DGP Abhayanand against DIG Alok Kumar and the three named accused alleging that the DIG had asked for Rs 10 crore as extortion on January 10.

After lodging of the complaint, he was removed and ordered to join the police headquarters.
According to senior police officials, the officials of the economic offence wing (EOW) of police are investigating the case. An official of EOW said, "The written complaint of Tunnaji Pandey is being treated as an FIR where the name of the DIG is mentioned. Proper action would be taken against the officer once the investigation is complete."
Woman harassed: A city-based model, Tina (name changed), lodged a complaint with the women's helpline alleging harassment by some of her close relatives. Pramila Kumari, project coordinator, women's helpline, said, "Tina lodged a complaint of domestic violence and sexual harassment against her uncle Manoj Kumar Sahni and two cousins Jalaj Sahni and Sahaj Sahni." She said, "Tina's parents and her uncle have a property dispute due to which her relatives used to harass her. DSP Sachivalaya has warned the relatives not to disturb the girl and her family. If Tina complains again, then the three of them would be arrested."
Rape attempt: An FIR was lodged with the Bypass police station regarding a bid to rape a visually disabled girl. Manish Kumar, SHO, Bypass PS, said, "One Wajid lodged an FIR that his neighbour Aslam tried to rape his blind sister due to a property dispute. Police are investigating the case but no one has been arrested yet."
