PATNA: The outgoing Patna DM, Manish Kumar Verma, on Sunday rewarded a local couple for showing exemplary compassion to a toddler who was separated from his family at the Gandhi Maidan during the stampede on Friday. They were given a cheque of Rs25,000 for their ‘humanitarian’ act. Verma said the child was received by his paternal uncle Shashibhushan Kumar.
Sanjay Goswami, a daily wager, and his wife Kiran Kumari were searching for their son Roshan, 5, when they found a child named Anmol after the stampede. Kiran, after receiving the cheque, told reporters she took the child to a nearby temple where she waited while her husband was busy searching Roshan. Finally, Kiran’s missing child was found and the couple went back to their rented shelter in Daudbigaha locality.
