Constable shoots self with service revolver, dies

Patna: A police constable died by suicide after shooting himself at the Bhabhua police lines in Kaimur district late on Monday evening. He was attached to the district's riot control unit.The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Amlesh Kumar, son of Brahmadeo Yadav, a resident of Bharkuda village under Barhat police station in Jamui district.According to police sources, fellow officers rushed to the site after hearing a gunshot and found Kumar injured. He was immediately taken to Bhabhua Sadar Hospital for treatment. Upon being informed, Kaimur SP Hari Mohan Shukla, Bhabhua SDPO Shiv Shankar Kumar and SHO of Bhabhua police station, Mukesh Kumar, also reached the hospital.Due to his critical condition, doctors referred Kumar to Varanasi for further treatment. However, he died during transit.Kumar had been serving in Kaimur district for the past two years. Speaking on the incident, the Bhabhua SDPO said, "He used his service weapon to take the extreme step. The reason behind the suicide is not yet clear and an investigation is underway. The police are examining all aspects of the case to determine what led to this tragic incident."
