Patna: After days of uncertainty over seat sharing among allies in Bihar, the Congress on Thursday finally released its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.
According to the list, Bachawara constituency seems to have a friendly contest within the INDIA bloc as the Left has already filed nominations on this seat.
The Congress has mostly retained the old faces. Prominent among them are Kutumba MLA and state president Rajesh Ram, Congress legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan (Kadwa) and Rajjapakar MLA Pratima Kumari.
The party, however, has fielded Chandan Yadav from Khagaria, denying ticket to its sitting MLA Chhatrapati Yadav.
The party has also fielded former Tamil Nadu DGP Braj Kishore Ravi from Rosera seat. The 1989-batch IPS officer had resigned ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls to join the Congress.
Ravi, who availed the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) to join politics, had worked with the UN peacekeeping force and headed the TN Fire and Rescue Services, reports said.
