Complaint filed against Sonia over remark on Prez

Patna: A complaint case has been filed against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi before a court in Muzaffarpur district over her "poor thing" remark about President Droupadi Murmu.The case was filed by Muzaffarpur-based lawyer Sudhir Ojha on Saturday, seeking the registration of an FIR against Sonia for allegedly disrespecting the country's highest constitutional authority. In his complaint petition, Ojha also named leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as co-accused, demanding legal action against both.Ojha alleged that the accused had issued statements as part of a conspiracy to insult the President of India. "The case has been admitted by the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Muzaffarpur, and will come up for hearing on Feb 10," Ojha, who is also the state president of the Bhartiya Sarthak Party, told TOI over the phone on Sunday."I have requested the court to take appropriate legal action against Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," he added.Following the President's joint address to Parliament ahead of the Budget session, Sonia was asked by media persons outside the House about Murmu's nearly hour-long speech. "The President was getting very tired by the end... she could hardly speak, poor thing," Sonia, the former Congress chief, was heard saying in video clips, seemingly referring to the length of the address.Later, Rashtrapati Bhavan issued a statement describing the remark as "unacceptable" and clarifying that Murmu was not tired. However, it did not directly name Sonia.
