Co-op Acts likely to be amended

PATNA: Co-operative minister Veena Shahi said the state government is contemplating amendments in the Bihar Co-operative Act, 1935 and other co-operative Acts of 1996 and 1997. The amendments will be enacted in the next session of the state legislature, she observed while participating in talks on the topic "NAFED's role in agricultural development of Bihar" here on Friday.

shahi, while stressing that nafed could play a major role in the development of agriculture in the state, said it should give priority to bihar so that the farmers here are able to get the due price of their agricultural produce. she hoped that nafed chairman ajit kumar singh, who is from bihar, would keep this in mind. kribhco chairman chandrapal singh said the emergence of a new leadership in the co-operative sector at the national level would benefit bihar and uttar pradesh. secretary of the co-operative department amitabh verma called upon the co-operative functionaries to go to the doorsteps of beneficiaries rather than working at the block and district level.
