CM urges departments to adopt new ways to boost Bihar’s revenue
Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Thursday outlined a twin focus on strengthening Bihar’s financial position and organisational capacity, directing departments to boost revenue while also unveiling an extensive training programme for party workers across the state.
Reviewing the activities of revenue-yielding departments at the Samvad auditorium of the CM secretariat, Samrat said the state’s financial position was “good” but required sustained and planned efforts for further improvement. “The state’s financial position is good, but all the departments concerned should work in a planned manner to further improve the situation,” he said, adding, “Adopt new ways for the collection of revenue, but also explore innovative measures for augmenting state’s revenue resources.”
The meeting, attended by deputy CMs Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, covered departments including finance, commercial taxes, mines and geology, urban development and housing, revenue and land reforms, prohibition, excise and registration, transport and panchayati raj. Officials presented details of revenue collection against targets and highlighted key achievements.
Samrat stressed curbing financial profligacy and ensuring strict financial discipline, directing departments to meet targets set by the govt. “The state’s budget size has increased multi-fold in the last two decades, and the govt has also been working on the state’s development and all necessary steps are being taken in the interest of people,” he said. Senior officials, including principal secretary to CM Deepak Kumar and development commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, were present.
Later, addressing a meeting on the state training plan under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Mega Training Campaign, 2026, Samrat said comprehensive programmes would be organised across all 52 organisational districts to strengthen the BJP at every level. He emphasised continuous training as key to organisational strength and ideological commitment, noting its role in spreading the principles of ‘Ekatm Manavvad’.
State BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi said district-level training with overnight stays would be held from May 2 to 31, covering 12 subjects including history, development themes and the govt’s achievements. “This training workshop constitutes an integral part of our distinctive operational methodology — a methodology that sets the BJP apart from all other political parties,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s extremely backward classes wing organised an ‘Akrosh march’ in Patna in support of 33% women’s reservation in Parliament and state assemblies. The leaders criticising opposition parties over the issue.
