CM launches projects worth Rs689 cr in Rohtas and Kaimur

Sasaram: During the fifth phase of his “Samriddhi Yatra”, CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday visited Rohtas district and Kaimur district, launching major development projects worth Rs 689 crore — Rs 480 crore in Rohtas and Rs 209 crore in Kaimur district, respectively. Reiterating his vision of a prosperous Bihar, he called for continued public support to sustain the pace of development. Addressing enthusiastic crowds, particularly women who raised their hands in support, he said, “Keep supporting us and Bihar will continue to progress.”

In Rohtas, the CM remotely inaugurated 179 completed schemes worth Rs 158 crore and laid the foundation stones for 129 new projects costing Rs 321 crore. These projects span key sectors such as drinking water, roads, education, healthcare and basic infrastructure, aimed at accelerating overall regional development.

Earlier in the day, Nitish inspected infrastructure projects along the Sone river, including the construction of an intake well near the anicut and a water treatment plant at Bastipur. These initiatives are designed to utilise surface water from the river to ensure a reliable supply of drinking water to Rohtas and Aurangabad district. He reviewed the progress closely and directed officials to maintain quality standards and adhere to timelines.

He also visited the proposed site for a weir on the Sone river, associated with an old structure dating back to 1872. After taking detailed inputs from engineers of the water resources department, he emphasised the importance of water conservation and long-term sustainability. The chief minister further examined a 3D model of the water treatment plant, assessing both its design and execution.

At Bastipur, he carried out a field inspection of the under-construction facility and later reviewed stalls set up by various govt departments. Interacting with beneficiaries, he assessed the impact of welfare schemes and distributed symbolic assistance, encouraging greater participation in livelihood and self-employment initiatives.

During a public interaction programme at the Police Line Stadium, he outlined the state govt’s development vision and priorities. He stressed that the Samriddhi Yatra serves as a platform for monitoring ongoing projects and ensuring effective implementation. He reaffirmed that both the state and central govts are committed to transforming Bihar into a developed and prosperous state.

Focusing on agriculture, Nitish said that since 2008 the state has followed a structured agricultural roadmap, resulting in increased production of crops, fruits, milk and fish. Expansion of irrigation facilities, including canals and link projects, has significantly supported farmers. He also mentioned efforts to bring Ganga river water to more regions and revive traditional irrigation systems.

Nitish added that Bihar is steadily progressing on the path of development. He urged people to continue supporting the govt’s initiatives, assuring that sustained efforts would help establish Bihar among the leading states of the country.
