CM inspects collectorate, direct faster completion of SSP office & double-decker bridge

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Monday inspected the Patna collectorate building and the double-decker bridge in the state capital.

During the inspection, he asked the officials concerned to ensure early completion of the SSP office being constructed on the collectorate premises, as well as the remaining works on the double-decker bridge. He directed the officials to establish coordination with the Patna Metro Rail Corporation and complete it as soon as possible. “The completion of these works will improve connectivity with the metro,” Nitish said.

The CM also took stock of the development works at the collectorate. He inspected the meeting hall on the fifth floor of the collectorate building, DDC office, district board, and office of the sadar SDO. He also inspected all floors of the collectorate building.

Accompanied by his principal secretary Deepak Kumar, the CM also reviewed the construction of the road being built from the Collectorate Ghat to the Sabhyata Dwar. “Once this road is built, it will provide convenience to Chhath devotees during the puja, people who go for morning walks will also benefit from it, and the grandeur of the Collectorate Ghat will further increase,” Nitish said.

He asked the officials to complete the construction of the road from the Collectorate Ghat to the Sabhyata Dwar at the earliest.

During his ‘Nishchay Yatra’ in 2017, the CM held a review meeting in the conference hall of the old collectorate premises, after which the dilapidated buildings were inspected. Considering the decrepit condition of the buildings, Nitish then decided to demolish the old buildings and construct a new collectorate building within the same premises.

“The new building of the Patna Collectorate was constructed on a 632-acre plot by demolishing the dilapidated buildings within the old collectorate premises situated on the banks of the Ganga river. The total built-up area of this new building is 28,388 square metres, which is significantly more than the old collectorate. In the new collectorate premises, along with the DM’s office, the district board office-cum-zila Vikas Bhavan and the Sadar SDO office building were also constructed. Special attention was given to the environment in the construction of the new collectorate building,” a communique issued from the chief minister’s office (CMO) said.

“All modern facilities were also provided in the new building of the Patna Collectorate. Water treatment and sewage treatment plants were installed in it. Additionally, a 40-KW solar energy plant was installed. The premises have open parking for 204 four-wheelers and basement parking for 240 vehicles. In compliance with the order of the Patna high court, the pillars of the old collectorate’s main building were safely displayed on one side of the premises, which showcases the heritage of the old collectorate building,” the communique said.

Secretaries to the chief minister, Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh, the CM’s special duty officer Gopal Singh, district magistrate Thiyagarajan SM, along with other officials, were present during the inspection.
