Patna: The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (BSTDC) has relaunched the Ganga Vihar Cruise service in a revamped form to promote tourism along the Ganga in Patna.
The service, operating from Gandhi Ghat, has been entrusted to Lenin Cruise Company for management and operations. The upgraded cruise was formally launched on June 7, with regular tourist services beginning on June 8.
Officials said the vessel has been equipped with modern amenities and redesigned interiors to enhance the visitor experience. The two-deck cruise can accommodate up to 65 passengers. The lower deck houses an air-conditioned dining area, while the upper deck features an open-air deck and dance floor.
The cruise will operate every Saturday and Sunday. Tickets have been priced at Rs 899 per person, including high tea and snacks.
The journey starts from Gandhi Ghat, travels up to Gai Ghat and returns to the starting point. Tourists will be accompanied by guides who will share information about Patna’s history and cultural heritage. Passengers will also be able to witness the Ganga Aarti and enjoy views of prominent landmarks along the river.
Keeping the summer season in mind, boarding has been scheduled for 5 pm and the cruise will operate until 6.30pm.
BSTDC has also introduced charter and group packages for private events. In a unique initiative, startups recognised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) will be allowed to use designated meeting space on the cruise free of cost for small meetings twice a year.
Officials said the upgraded service is expected to boost river tourism and attract more visitors to the state capital.
