“He was initially rushed to the primary health centre (PHC) at Khusrupur from where he was later taken to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) where he died during treatment after midnight,” Sinha said.
Singh said that the body was later handed over to the parents of the child who disposed it off along with other villagers into the river on Friday.
However, Singh failed to reply that why an FIR was not lodged in the incident and not even the post-mortem was conducted.
“I was in Barh on Thursday. I am also handling additional charge of Barh and Athmalgola block due to which I got to know about the incident later,” he said.
Khusrupur police station SHO Mrityunjay Kumar denied having received any written or oral information about the incident.

Surprisingly, senior officials of the district administration were in the dark about the incident even after more than 24 hours of the incident.
Patna DM (in-charge) Aditya Prakash said that officials had yet not informed him about any such incident.
“I will have to look into the matter and necessary action will be taken. If required, an inquiry would be ordered on the issue for disposing off body without going through the legal process,” he said.
