PATNA: Altogether 20 IAS officers of Bihar cadre, including chief secretary (CS) A K Sinha, are retiring this year. Of them, two are retiring by this month end and eight will retire by June 30.
As per records available with the state's general administration department, Sinha (1976 batch) will retire on June 30 after holding the CS post for 22 months since September 1, 2012 following Navin Kumar's retirement.
Other CS-rank officer retiring this year is the adviser, Bihar State Planning Board, Jairam Lal Meena (1980 batch), on April 30. As two CS-rank officers will be retiring by June 30, 1981 batch officers Vijoy Prakash and S K Negi might get promoted in the CS rank.
Two other officers on central deputation and posted in foreign countries - Kumaresh Chandra Mishra (1977 batch) posted in the Netherlands, and Jayant Dasgupta (1981 batch) posted in Geneva - are scheduled to retire on June 30 and September 30, respectively.
Tirhut divisional commissioner K P Ramaiah (1986 batch) has applied for voluntary retirement with effect from March 31 on personal grounds. Ramaiah, otherwise, is scheduled to retire on July 31. Special secretary, labour resources department, Anil Kumar (1998 batch), who was promoted to the rank of secretary on January 1 this year, is scheduled to retire on June 30.
Besides these officers of secretary and above ranks, 14 IAS officers in the joint secretary rank are scheduled to retire in 2014. Of them, Vinod Kumar, special secretary, road construction department, and Parshuram Mishra, secretary, staff selection commission, will be retiring on January 31 while Mahesh Prasad Gupta, special secretary, tourism, will retire on April 30.
Similarly, Ajay Kumar Singh, additional transport commissioner, will retire on June 30, Raman Kumar, secretary, board of revenue, on July 31, Raj Narayan Lal (August 31), Sudhir Shrivastava, Rajendra Prasad Ojha and Arun Kumar Singh (on September 30), Kaushal Kishore Verma and Ghanshyam Prasad Dafftuar (on October 31), while A K Mullick, Arun Derhgawe and Ramanand Jha (on December 31).
