Centre in talks with Nepal over flood issue, says Ravi Shankar Prasad

Darbhanga: The Centre is in continuous dialogue with the Nepal government to solve the vexed issue of inundation in the Mithilanchal region due to rivers flowing from the Himalayan kingdom to these bordering districts of Bihar, said Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday.
He said the solution involved a two-pronged strategy -- one at the state level and the other related to the issue of water management between the two countries.
Addressing mediapersons with Darbhanga MP Kirti Azad by his side, he said, “PM Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Nepal opened doors for long-term negotiations and revisiting previous pacts with the neighbouring country.’’ Embarking on a series of meetings with party workers on a day when AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi was also campaigning in the area, Prasad once again reminded the Gandhi scion not to refer to the Modi government as that of ‘a suit-boot ki sarkar’. “Modi government is that of soojh boojh (intellect and understanding) unlike the UPA which was a ‘suitcase ki sarkar’ (a government of suitcases full of scam money),” he said.
Scoffing at the Nitish-Lalu-Congress combine, Prasad said it was surprising that unlike the NDA, leaders of the grand alliance never addressed the voters from one platform.
Expressing confidence that the NDA would come to power in Bihar, as the first two phases of voting were very encouraging, Prasad said this election was about “jungle raj vs vikas raj”. People want change in terms of development and the NDA led by Modi will usher in a new era in the state, he claimed.
