CBI pastes court notice on Srijan scam accused home

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has pasted court notices at the residential house of the Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti (SMVSS) Secretary Rajni Priya alias Priya Kumar on Tuesday as part of the legal procedure to be fulfilled by pronouncing her as an absconder so that her properties are confiscated. This is the second time within a month that the CBI had to undertake such a step against Rajni. Earlier also, the SMVSS Secretary was issued notice to appear before the Special CBI Court on December 16. The court had issued notices to be pasted at her residential premises at Bhagalpur following her failure to appear before the designated court. The CBI Court had earlier issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Rajni and other accused in the case RC6A18 as they had gone underground since the scam came to light in August 2017. BHAGALPUR: In an another step to nab the alleged accused of the multi-crore financial scam related to siphoning of government money by Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti (SMVSS), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials led by Yogesh pasted court notice (ishtehaar) at the residential house of the SMVSS secretary Rajni Priya alias Priya Kumar on Tuesday as part of the legal procedure to be fulfilled by pronouncing her as absconder so that her properties are confiscated.

This is the second time within a month that the CBI had to undertake such a step against Rajni. Earlier also, the SMVSS secretary was issued notice to appear before the special CBI court on December 16. The court had issued notices to be pasted at her residential premises at Bhagalpur following her failure to appear before the designated court.

SMVSS, a co-operative society founded by late Manorama Devi in early 1990s, is under CBI probe. Manorama’s son Amit Kumar and his wife Rajni Priya, along with several others are accused in the scam in which huge amount of government funds were fraudulently transferred between 2004 and 2014 in the accounts of SMVSS.
It is estimated that more than nearly Rs 2,400 crore was fraudulently transferred from district project accounts to the bank accounts of SMVSS.
The managing committee members against whom FIR was registered by the Sabour police then included president of SMVSS Subhalaxmi Prasad (wife of Dr Binodanand Prasad), secretary of SMVSS Rajni Priya, Seema Devi, Jasima Khatoon, Rajrani Verma, Aparna Verma, Rubi Kumari (wife of Bipin Sharma), Rani Devi, Sunita Devi and Suna Devi.
